The andiroba nut or Carapa guianensis is native to South America, particularly in the Amazon basin. The indigenous people have long considered the andiroba nut to be THE natural power of the Amazon and it is used there for wound care and skin care. The andiroba oil extracted from the nut has bioactive properties that can be particularly beneficial for inflammatory skin diseases. The oil from the andiroba nut has the highest proportion of natural limonoids of all currently known nuts. At the same time, the andiroba oil has a high proportion of vitamins A, C and E.
